Pretrial Services Mission:


The mission of the United States Pretrial Services Office is to perform all the statutory functions intended by Congress in order to:

(1) provide judicial officers with thorough verified defendant information necessary to make informed release or detention decisions;

(2) reduce unnecessary detention;

(3) provide judicial officers with alternatives to detention;

(4) supervise persons released to the custody of Pretrial Services;

(5) reasonably assure community safety and the reappearance of the defendant;

(6) investigate and supervise persons referred to the pretrial diversion program .
